Project Description: For over a decade, Don Martin and Alberto Vargas led redevelopment efforts in Winter Park, Florida. From oversight of the initial plan creation and adoption to implementation of the numerous design and program elements, the revitalization of west Winter Park and Hannibal Square has stabilized the neighborhood and attracted significant new reinvestment. Beyond the physical components, the effort also included major social capital and affordable housing initiatives including the development of a community land trust, a mixed-income apartment project, housing rehabilitation program, and a heritage center and social development grant program.
